On June 1, the committee, led by David Bagdasarian, the Facilities Director, toured Pond Cove Elementary and Cape Elizabeth Middle School to scrutinize the current conditions and understand the extent of the need for renovations or new builds. The aim was to get firsthand insights into the facilities, which could then inform subsequent planning and decision-making processes.
Two more meetings unfolded on June 15 and June 29, covering various critical topics related to the project. On June 15, discussions involved a presentation by Joseph Cuetara from Moors and Cabot about municipal bonds, providing essential knowledge about the level and use of debt, and an introduction to the survey process by Bruce Lockwood from the Portland Research Group. The updated budget was revised to a total of $653,720, as reported by Chair Jordan.
The meeting on June 29 involved a detailed review of draft survey questions, updates on the owner’s representative contract, and responses to facility-related questions by David Bagdasarian. Engaging in thorough discussions, the committee adjusted survey questions and planned follow-up sessions for additional queries regarding the facilities. Finally, Dr. Christopher Record provided an analysis of enrollment studies, suggesting a projected 0.9% increase and indicating further review in the fall. Throughout these sessions, the committee emphasized efficient communication and a comprehensive approach to future planning and data collection.
